NEWEST UPDATE!! After saying goodbye to a couple of cast members recently BBC’s long running medical drama Casualty is getting set to welcome three new faces

Casualty has sparked a fan frenzy with the announcement that three

new cast members will be joining the team in Holby ED – and they are

all very familiar faces. Actress and comedian Sammy T Dobson,

who is best known for Meet the Richardsons, Killing Eve’s Manpreet Bachu and The Crown and Waterloo Road star Jamie Glover are the newest additions.

Jamie will play Holby’s newest Clinical Lead, Patrick Onley, while Sammy and Manpreet join as Junior Doctors, Nicole Piper and Tariq Hussein. Their debut appearances will happen during February and March and point to interesting times ahead in Holby ED.

In particular the arrival of Clinical Lead Patrick implies there will be huge drama as the role is currently held by Max Cristie (played by Nigel Harman). The show announced their arrival on their social media accounts and generated huge excitement from their followers.

@kathrynfromsouthshields predicted: “Oh Nicole and Stevie are gonna be interesting I reckon!!!” @marknelsoncomic raved: “Yassssssssssss. Absolute class this.”

@louminator80 tagged new addition Sammy writing: “No way! This is so exciting @sammytinks ! Congratulations xxx.” Meanwhile saman_s89 said of Manpreet joining: “You know I’ll now be turning on casualty to watch you congratulations bud.” also commenting onthe news was current Casualty cast member Elinor Lawless who plays Stevie Nash.

An official release gave a hint of what viewers can expect from the new characters. Sammy’s trainee doctor Nicole Piper is described as the epitome of work hard, play hard. A passionate junior doctor she is seemingly a late starter in her career as coming from a working-class background she’s found it hard to find the funds to afford medical school.

“Joining Casualty has felt like a dream. To become a piece of such a well-regarded part of BBC history is incredible but to get there and find everyone to be so genuinely lovely, welcoming and committed to making the best show possible is just wonderful,” she said as her casting was announced.

Meanwhile Manpreet’s character Taiq has recently moved back to the UK after spending three years in Australia working hard and playing even harder. He is apparently a loveable rogue who is determined to climb the ranks as an NHS doctor and get involved in the most exciting and challenging medicine as possible along the way.

He also has an advantage over the other newbies as he has family already in the ED as he is the cousin to of Rash Masum (Neet Mohan).

“I’m thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show, the warm welcome and love from everyone has made this experience truly amazing. I can’t wait for the fans to witness Tariq’s unique journey unfold,” Manpreet enthused.

New Clinical lead Patrick Onley, who will first appear on screens in March, is a tenured and respected trauma surgeon turned ED Consultant who has always been able to charm his way through anything according to his official description.

He is someone who appreciates precision, process and order. He is sure to prove controversial as despite having worked for the NHS for decades, he doesn’t entertain those who see lack of resourcing and funding as an injustice believing it’s an inconvenience, but it should never get in the way of your job.

The Crown and Waterloo Road star Jamie Glover says of joining the show: “Having been a fan of the show since its very first inception (yep, I’m that old) it is a real honour to be joining the incredible team at Casualty.

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be working with such a dedicated, skilful group of people who care so passionately about the minutiae of each episode as well as the show’s wider impact . Casualty is quite rightly considered a national treasure. And it is a privilege to board the bus for a part of its journey.”
